Association of Graduate Students in Philosophy
AGSP is a formal, university-funded association run by graduate students in the philosophy department at Loyola University Chicago. Each year, we elect a board, which takes on the responsibility of making our voices heard in the department, the graduate school, and occasionally the university at large. We also organize conferences and colloquia and do our best to promote social activities. In addition to these roles, we do what we can to promote the interests of our members. We take care of the illustrious Graduate Student Lounge, and we maintain a small library in the Lounge (complete with a small collection of journals). We do what we can to provide graduate students travel stipends for conferences in which they are participating.
All graduate students (including those enrolled in MA programs) are welcome to become members. Most members are subscribed to the official mailing list. You can learn more about AGSP by visiting our blog or downloading our constitution.
|Vice President||Jean Clifford|
|GSAC Representative||Ashley Karcher-Nabasny|
|Colloquia Representative||Cameron Coates|
The AGSP mailing list is the primary form of communication for AGSP. Official AGSP business is often done on the list. Department news is also often announced on the AGSP list as well as social events, job postings, fellowship/grant/scholarship offerings, and graduate school news. Please contact the AGSP treasurer if you would like to be added or removed from our mailing list.
AGSP holds subscriptions to a handful of journals which are of particular interest to our graduate student population. Have a suggestion in mind? Contact the AGSP secretary with the name of the journal, and information on the publisher of the journal (a website is good).
The graduate lounge, located in Crown 357, is a place where graduate students can relax, work, or meet with others. It has a few computers, some comfy lounge chairs, and the three only three appliances necessary for survival: fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Keys to the graduate lounge are given out by the Administrative Assistant of the Philosophy Department. You can ask about it at the front desk of the department.
