Gillian Crozier joined the Loyola Philosophy Department as an Assistant Professor in the fall of 2009, where she has been teaching courses on healthcare ethics and ethical issues raised by genetic and other biotechnologies. From 2007-2009, she undertook a CIHR post-doctoral fellowship at Dalhousie University in the Ethics of Health Research and Policy. During this fellowship, she studied under the mentorship of Professor Francoise Baylis and with the Novel Tech Ethics research team, and she was afforded the opportunity to spend time in the Ethics Unit of the World Health Organization. Her bioethics research focuses on social justice and international trade in medical goods and services, and on ethical issues raised by novel biotechnologies. She earned her doctoral degree at the University of Western Ontario where her dissertation focused on the philosophy of biology and cultural evolution. She publishes in both the philosophy of science and in bioethics, and her work appears in such publications as the British Journal for the Philosophy of Science, Biology and Philosophy, the American Journal of Bioethics, and the Journal of Medical Ethics.
