Description: The 2009 John Grant Lecture, Loyola University of Chicago, April 13, 2009.
Professor Chambers is the Director of the Program in Medical Humanities and Bioethics at Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine and Past-President of the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities. He believes the "profession" of bioethics is very uncritical of its own biases, prejudices, and philosophical presumptions, and needs tbecome much more self-aware and self-critical.

Father Madigan is professor of philosophy at the Jesuits' Heythrop Center in London and editor of The Heythrop Journal. In this lecture he draws on various phil and literary sources to show how Lucifer and Jesus are contrasting archtypes of ways to respond to a father who makes unexpectedly heavy demands on his sons.
