Welcome
to this project.
Church-related
colleges have been known as places where cultivating the whole student
is a priority. Because whole student development-intellectual, social,
civic, physical, moral, spiritual, religious-is becoming more important
in our colleges and universities, faculty will need to be better
recognized, evaluated, and nurtured for their contributions in meeting
the holistic needs of today's college students. But we believe the
development of the whole student also requires the development of
the whole faculty member.
We
have two major goals of this project. First, we report on faculty
contributions from the perspective of Chief Academic Officers (CAOs)
of church-related colleges. Second, we desire to create a dialogue
among CAOs and other academic leaders about the changing expectations
and responsibilities of faculty.
This
is a highly ecumenical and collaborative project. Chief Executive
Officers of eight higher education associations have endorsed it.
This
project is being funded by the Lilly Endowment, Inc. and the John
Templeton Foundation.
We
look forward to your participation in the project.
