CORPORATE STRATEGY IN THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY
This module focuses on the structure and processes of developing and implementing strategy in the healthcare industry. It provides an understanding of how to develop strategy that is consistent with the mission and values of the organization, that creates value for the consumer, differentiates your institution, and is sustainable. Specifically, this course discusses external and internal analysis, institutional values and culture, vision and goal formation, creation and evaluation of strategic alternatives, implementation, monitoring, and adjusting of strategies. The course is presented in the context of contemporary issues in healthcare, and class discussion and readings focus on strategic and business issues in healthcare. The class will discuss a pertinent case study to enforce strategy and business principles in a highly salient way.
