Judging Process

Applications are reviewed by a panel of judges comprised of previous award winners, corporate representatives and Loyola faculty. Family businesses with high scores in the following categories are considered top contenders for the Small, Medium or Large Family Business of the Year Award.

  • Business Success
  • Positive Family-Business Linkage
  • Multiple Generation Family Business Involvement
  • Contributions to Community and Industry
  • Innovative Business Practices or Strategy

Additionally, family businesses with high scores in the four categories listed below are eligible for the Community Service Award:

  • Financial Contributions
  • Social Contributions
  • Community Service
  • Leadership

Winners and finalists are notified of their award once the judging process is complete. All decisions of the Judges and the Loyola University Chicago Family Business Center are final.
