Meet Reed Patterson, ambassador for Chicago Ideas Week (Oct. 8–14)
What are your responsibilities as a Loyola campus ambassador for Chicago Ideas Week?
“I enlist volunteers on campus, develop relationships with faculty and student boards on behalf of Chicago Ideas Week (Oct. 8–14), provide promotional content for social networks, and distribute promotional material.”
What is your favorite part of the job?
“I'm excited to get students involved with Chicago Ideas Week. In the past, there have been a lot of great speakers at the event, including former President Bill Clinton. This year, we have Edward Norton, General Colin Powell, and Rudy Tanzi, PhD, coming out to speak. It's going to be great.”
Which class best prepared you for your internship?
“I can’t pinpoint a single class that helped me most, but there is one person who prepared me best. I am thankful to have learned from Kathryn Bassman, who has been mentoring me for the past five months. She has inspired me to help others and become much more involved with Chicago businesses.”
What is the most important lesson you learned?
“Networking is one of the most helpful tools that you can utilize in your life.”
Typical office attire?
"Jeans and button-down shirt."
Favorite lunch spot?
"My kitchen, since I have the comfort of working from home."
