Meet Katie Nadeau (MBA), Ryder Cup intern

What is the Ryder Cup?
“The Ryder Cup is a professional golf competition between teams from the United States and Europe and is held every two years with the site alternating between courses in the US and Europe. The teams generally consist of the PGA's top golfers from Europe and the US.”

How did you get involved?
“Through the coordination of Professor Keith Lambrecht and the Sport Management program at Quinlan, I and other students interested in volunteering time and gaining valuable sport industry experience worked with PGA staff to assist with the event.”

What was your role?
“I was a corporate hospitality intern for the 2012 Ryder Cup. As an intern, I also assisted with the Samuel Ryder Invitational, a golf tournament for Ryder Cup corporate clients held at Medinah in July.”

A favorite memory from the event?
“Our intern credentials allowed us to watch the tournament as spectators when we weren't working, so being mere feet away from some of the best golfers in the world and witnessing a major sporting event in person, despite the US falling short in the end, was an amazing experience!”
