Humor keeps internship interesting and exciting

What are some of your responsibilities?

Opening client accounts, processing paperwork, market research, assisting brokers with clients, relaying information to clients, troubleshooting technology glitches, updating spreadsheets, stock analysis.

What’s your favorite part of the job?

The atmosphere in the office—there is not one day I am not laughing from the beginning I step into the office until I leave at the end of the day. Everyone here has a great sense of humor, and coming to work, even after a year and a half, is still enjoyable every day.

Which class prepared you the best, and why?

ISOM 247 (now INFS 247): Business Information Systems. I use Excel every day here, and I impressed my bosses early on with how much I knew and how much they learned from me.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned so far?

Learn everything your boss or mentor is willing to teach you, and ask many questions, because the more engaged you are, the greater the experience will be for you.

Typical office attire.

Casual—jeans, nice shirt (office appropriate). If clients are coming in, we all dress business casual.

Top spot to grab lunch.

Chipotle or Potbelly’s—they’re usually the fastest, and we’re always hungry.

Your internship experience in one word.

Rewarding.
