Meet Janie Sacco, Assistant Resident Director for the Kenmore Apartments!
*What do you do in Residence Life?*
I supervise Kenmore Areas, the Marquette South Front Desk, and serve as an advisor for Kenmore Area Council. I am around Marquette South answering questions from residnets. I also help will departmental initiatives on the Facilities Operations committee. I am also getting my Masters Degree in Higher Education.
*What do you enjoy most about working at a Jesuit university?*
What I enjoy the most about working at a Jesuit university is the mission of social justice and the care for students. Engaging in dialogue around issues of diveristy is very fulfilling. I especially enjoying developing programs for students around disability identity.
*How do you interact with students?*
I interact with students through a variety of ways. I work with Kenmore students on Area Council to create large scale programs for the community. I also meet with students regarding facilities concerns, roommate conflicts, and conduct situtations. On Thursday, Kenmore residents can stop by my office for Treats!
*What On Campus organizations were you a part of during your undergraduate years?*
When I was in college I was involved in Circle K International and Model UN. I was also an RA and worked in the Residence Life Central Office. During my senior year I got involved with Get in the Mix, a club for multiracial students.
*Where will you be in 5 years?*
In five years, I hope to be back in Seattle (my hometown) working in Residence Life or Disability Services at a local university. I also hope to pursing a doctorate in higher education.
