Loyola University Chicago Students have to opportunity to apply to be a resident assistant, desk receptionist, student office assistant, residence hall association member, or hall council member.

Resident Assistant:

The Resident Assistant (RA) position is a unique leadership opportunity for students to meaningfully contribute to the residential community at Loyola University Chicago. In their work, RAs serve as resources, community builders, administrators, role models, and peer educators with our residents. As members of a residence hall staff, RAs work collaboratively with a Resident Director (RD), Assistant Resident Director(s)(ARD), and other student staff members to create a vital and engaged living-learning community. Together, the hall staff provides programs and services that support the mission, vision and values of the Department of Residence Life. With the goal of creating transformative living environments in the residence halls, RAs are responsible for building and facilitating a positive and effective community in their respective residential areas.

Student Office Assistant:

The Student Office Assistant (SOA) is an integral member of the Residence Life team, serving as one of the initial representatives of the department and Loyola University Chicago (LUC). The SOA works in the Residence Life central office, assisting in the administration and delivery of services for the residence hall community. The SOA, often the first contact to residents, parents, visitors, and persons outside the LUC community, must demonstrate professionalism and customer service at all times, while also responding quickly and effectively to student needs and other situations. 

Desk Staff:

The Desk Staff is an integral team of the Department of Residence Life, responsible for helping to facilitate a welcoming, caring, healthy and safe environment, promoting community rooted in the Jesuit tradition of Loyola University Chicago. The Desk Staff works at the residence hall front desk, assisting in the administration, service, and security of the residence hall.

Residence Hall Association:

Loyola University Chicago’s Residence Hall Association is a residential student-run organization, that strives to continually develop the on campus community through a commitment to Programming, Advocacy, Community and Tradition.  Through these pillars, the RHA Executive Board strives to represent Loyola University Chicago locally, regionally, and nationally.
