Student Services Positions

Student Services positions in the Department of Residence Life are hourly positions that require Federal Work Study funding to be eligible.  These positions assist in the day to day operations of the residence halls and department.

Desk Receptionist

The DR works at the residence hall front desk, assisting in the administration, service, and security of the residence hall. As the first contact to residents, visitors, and persons in and outside of the Loyola community, DR staff must demonstrate professionalism and customer service at all times, while also responding quickly and effectively in emergencies and situations involving student safety.  2014-2015 Desk Receptionist Position Description

 

Desk Manager

In addition to performing the duties of a Desk Receptionist while working at the residence hall front desk, the DM also assists in supervising the Desk Receptionists and manages the overall desk operations. As the first contact to residents, visitors, and persons in and outside of the Loyola community, DM staff must demonstrate professionalism and customer service at all times, while also responding quickly and effectively in emergency situations and situations involving student safety.  Additionally, as a supervisor and coordinator of desk operations, DM staff must demonstrate an ability to be a peer leader, while also employing the means to ensure effective operations of the desk.  2014-2015 Desk Manager Position Description

 

Student Office Assistant – Residence Life Central Office

The SOA serves as a service provider and resource for current residential students, families, visitors and persons outside of the University community.  As members of the residence life staff, Student Office Assistants work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services and information.  With the goal of creating transformative living environments in the residence halls, Student Office Assistants are responsible for assisting with day to day administrative and customer service responsibilities in the Residence Life Central Office.  2014-2015 Student Office Assistant-Residence Life Office Position Description

 

Student Office Assistant – Baumhart Hall

The Student Office Assistant (SOA) is an integral member of the Baumhart Residence Life team, serving as one of the initial representatives of the department and Loyola University Chicago (LUC). The SOA works in the Baumhart Residence Life office, assisting in the administration and delivery of services for the residence hall community. As the first contact to residents, visitors, and persons in and outside of the Loyola community, the SOA must demonstrate professionalism and customer service at all times, while also responding quickly and effectively in emergency situations.  2014-2015 Student Office Assistant-Baumhart Hall

 

Furniture Crew

Students on Furniture Crew (FC) have an important role in making sure students have a positive experience living in the Residence Halls.  Students on Furniture Crew often have one on one interactions with students who are experiencing problems with the furniture in their room, and work to resolve those problems.  Students who serve on FC are trusted with many responsibilities, but have the unique responsibilities of driving golf carts around campus (to transport furniture), and are provided access to students' rooms to address furniture issues.  Training is provided, but a willingness to learn, provide excellent customer service, and good problem solving skills will help students be successful in the FC position.2014-2015 FC Position Description

Resident Assistants and Learning Community Assistants are primarily responsible for community building and support in the residence halls.  These positions are

Resident Assistant

The Resident Assistant (RA) position is a unique leadership opportunity for students to meaningfully contribute to the residential community at Loyola University Chicago.  In their work, RAs serve as resources, community builders, administrators, role models, and peer educators with our residents.  As members of a residence hall staff, RAs work collaboratively with other departmental staff to create a vital and engaged living-learning community.  Together, the hall staff provides programs and services that support the mission, vision and values of the Department of Residence Life.  With the goal of creating transformative living environments in the residence halls, RAs are responsible for building and facilitating a positive and effective community.  Click here to view the full position description:  RA Position Description 2014-2015.

Learning Community Assistant

The Learning Community Assistant (LCA) position is a student leadership position that serves students in Loyola’s Learning Communities. This position is an opportunity for upperclass students to both share their knowledge and love for Loyola with new students, and collaborate with invested students, faculty and staff to create a rich experience for all Learning Community students.
