PLEASE NOTE: Residence hall access will be removed between Sunday, December 17th at noon and Sunday, January 14th at noon for students who elect not to register for Winter Break.

The Department of Residence Life and Loyola University Chicago will be closed from Friday, December 23rd-Monday, January 1st. The office will reopen on Tuesday, January 2nd.

In the event of an emergency, please call Campus Safety at (773) 508-6039.

As you prepare for a successful end to your semester, you should also prepare for Winter Break.

Our residence halls close for Winter Break on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at 12PM (noon) and will reopen Sunday, January 14, 2024 at 12PM (noon).

INFORMATION FOR STUDENT REGISTERED FOR WINTER BREAK HOUSING:

New this Winter Break period, all residence halls will remain open to eligible students who register for Winter Break Housing.

Students wishing to remain on-campus at any point during the Winter Break period will need to register for Winter Break Housing.

The deadline to register for Winter Break Stay is Friday, December 1. Unfortunately, to allow for planning, late requests will not be accepted.

Please note that dining hours during Winter Break will be limited, but you may use RamblerBucks at several area restaurants.

INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS NOT REGISTERED FOR WINTER BREAK HOUSING:

During Winter Break, hall access will be removed for any student NOT registered for winter break housing.

Students who elect not to register, will NOT be permitted to return to or enter their residence hall for any reason during the break period.

When leaving for Winter Break, please take any important belongings with you (medications, ID, passport, keys, etc.) as you will not be permitted access to your building/room during break. If you will be living in the same room for spring semester, take your room key with you. You may leave your belongings in your room, but again, be mindful of taking what you will need while you are away for Winter Break.

The residence halls re-open on Sunday, January 14 at 12PM (noon).

Community Meetings

Community Meetings will take place in November and all residents are encouraged to attend regardless of Winter Break plans. During your Community Meeting, you will learn more about Winter Break Stays, preparing to leave your building, and the check-out process for students not returning after Winter Break. You will also be able to ask your RA any questions you may have.
