- Do you provide a linen service?
No, the Department of Residence Life does not provide a linen service.
- Do you rent refrigerators?
The Department of Residence Life does not rent refrigerators
Apartment-style halls include a refrigerator as part of their standard accommodations.
Traditional-style halls do not include refrigerators, with the exception of Creighton Hall, but students are welcome to bring a compact refrigerator with them. The refrigerator must have an average amperage rating of three amps/hour or less and must be no larger than 4.2 cubic feet.
University and Student Services, a university partner, does offer Microfridge rental and several other student services. - What laundry services are available?
Every residence hall has access to laundry rooms. Incoming freshman are given a laundry card, which can be used in all on campus washers and dryers. Students can add funds to their laundry card at laundry card stations located around campus.
Campus Laundry & Dry Cleaning, a university partner, offers pick up and delivery of bundled laundry and dry cleaning. - Does the university offer storage?
No, the the university does not provide storage space for personal property. Students who will be on campus during the Summer Sessions need to make arrangements to store their belongings off campus between the end of Spring Semester and the beginning of Summer Sessions and between the end of Summer Sessions and the beginning of the Fall Semester. Housing Accommodations
- Do you offer any guest accommodations?
The Department of Residence Life does not offer any guest housing. You may wish to refer to this list of local hotels.
- Do you offer any housing options at the Water Tower (downtown) Campus?
Yes, the Department of Residence Life offers housing options at the Lake Shore Campus and Baumhart Hall and Terry Student Center at the Water Tower Campus is available to upper-class undergraduate and graduate students. - Do you offer any housing options for the summer?
Summer Housing through Residence Life is only available to full-time undergraduate students who are enrolled in Loyola courses during the academic year and summer. Click here for more information.
Housing Assignments
- When will I receive my housing assignment and information?
Housing assignments for new and first year students will be mailed home in early June. Your letter will include your housing assignment and roommate information.
- Can I change my roommate/hall assignment?
Currently we are in a "room freeze." This is a practice utilized by many higher education institutions. The purpose of this freeze is to avoid confusion and disruption of students who have already received a confirmation letter of their assignment. Changes at this time would involve the displacement or movement of more than just two people.
- Can I find a new roommate at Discover Loyola?
Residence Life staff will be available at various times to answer your questions, but assignments cannot be altered. Nearly all incoming Freshmen have been assigned at this time, and shuffling these assignments at this time is not possible.

Maintenance Concerns
- What if I have a maintenance concern regarding my room or building?
Maintenance and work requests should be submitted to the Division of Facilities Management.
Meal Plans
- Do I have to have a meal plan?
All students living on campus must have a university meal plan. For information on available meal plans, please visit the Campus Card meal plans page.
- How do I add money to my declining balance and/or change my meal plan?
Before you add additional money to your declining balance, note that unused declining balance dollars carry over from the fall to the spring semester. At the end of the academic year, any unused declining balance dollars are non-refundable. You should select your meal plan according to your expected spending habits.
If you do need to add additional money, you can add rambler bucks to your card at any time. For information about adding Rambler Bucks, please click here. Rambler Bucks are non-refundable, but will continue to carry over for every semester. To change a meal plan, students can visit the Campus Card Office in the Sullivan Center for Student Services or fill out one of the meal plan forms on the Campus Card Website.

Moving Suggestions
- What items should I bring? What items should I not bring?
All rooms come furnished with one bed, desk, desk chair, and dresser per person. Information about that standard furniture is available here. Keep in mind that your room is small and that you will be sharing this space with another person. Talk with your roommate and decide what items you will bring with you and what items you can share.
