PLEASE NOTE: MOVE-IN VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION FOR FALL 2009 MOVE-IN HAS BEEN CLOSED.
Move-in volunteers provide a valuable service to our new incoming students and offer a warm welcome to our campus. Move-in volunteers assist students with unloading their cars, moving carts full of student personal items into the residence hall, and helping them to unload the items in their room and get settled.
Volunteers may also assist with directing new parents and students around the campus, serve refreshments, and other activities that assist with the move in process.
In exchange for 8 hours of service during move in, volunteers are able to move into the residence halls several days before the official opening of the residence halls and have early arrival housing fees waived. Volunteers receive a t-shirt to wear identifying them as a move in volunteer and will be provided with beverages during their shifts.
Volunteers are required to provide 8 total hours of service during the move in process. You will be assigned to 4 hour shifts during the following dates:
- Wednesday, August 19, 2009
- Thursday, August 20, 2009
- Saturday, August 22, 2009
- Sunday, August 23, 2009
By registering to be a move-in volunteer, you agree to comply with the expectations for and carry out the responsibilities of a move-in volunteer. Failure to work assigned shifts or attend a volunteer meeting will result in your account being billed an early arrival housing fee.
IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR WATER TOWER RESIDENTS
Water Tower residents will not be allowed to move-in early. As a result, residents of the Water Tower residence hall will not be eligible to volunteer as move-in volunteers. Furthermore, there will be no move-in volunteer shifts at Baumhart Hall since the Department of Residence Life will be providing professional movers.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Students interested in being a move in volunteer must complete and submit their online registration by July 15, 2009. Space is Limited, the Department of Residence Life reserves the right to close volunteer registration prior to this date.
EARLY RESIDENCE HALL MOVE IN FOR VOLUNTEERS
Residence Hall students who have registered as volunteers for move-in are permitted to move-in early to the residence halls. Move-in time for volunteers is Monday, August 17, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and Tuesday, August 18, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
MANDATORY MEETING FOR MOVE IN VOLUNTEERS
Meetings for volunteers will be scheduled for the day of your arrival. You will need to sign in to verify attendance. At the meeting the move-in process and your responsibilities in the move-in process will be explained. Move-in volunteers will be required to attend one of these meetings. Meeting times will be posted at a later date.

GROUPS
What is a group?
A group is any student organization or athletic team. All members of the group can be registered by one person clicking the group registration link on the Move-In Volunteer registration system.
What if members of my group have already registered as an individual?
Once registration is closed on August 7th, the Department will review all individual registrations. If there are any group members who have also registered as an individual, they will be contacted. For this reason, it is imparitive that those registering the group provide accurate rosters.
What if I want to make changes to my group roster after registering?
If your group roster changes for any reason, please email the Department of Residence Life with an updated roster.
How and when will my group be assigned a volunteer time?
When registering, you are asked when your group would prefer to volunteer. This preference is considered when group time assignments are made in August.
Can my entire group volunteer are the same location?
When assigning volunteer locations to groups, we try to keep the group together, however, we will split up groups if necessary.
Will Move-In Volunteer shirts be provided for Groups?
Often, groups prefer to wear group t-shirts. If the group would like to wear Move-In Volunteer shirts, they should include desired shirt sizes in their roster.

How can I update my registration Information?
If you need to make any changes to your information, please email the Department of Residence Life with the change.
How can I change my move-in time or volunteer shifts?
Move-in times and volunteer shifts can be easily changed by logging into the volunteer registration system and selecting a new time the same way you selected your original time.
I can no longer volunteer. How do I cancel my registration?
To cancel your volunteer registration, please email the Department of Residence Life
I forgot my password. How can I reset it?
The Department of Residence Life can easily reset your password. To request a password reset, please go to http://orpheus.it.luc.edy/reslife and click "forgot password."
When will I receive my finalization e-mail?
Finalization emails and informational e-mails will be sent in July and early August.
