Services & Partners

The Department of Residence Life in conjunction with our partners at the university offers a number of services to residential students. Some of these services include:

CABLE TELEVISION: All residence hall rooms are wired for cable service. For information on Digital Cable Boxes, please visit the ITS Website.  Report all cable television problems to cabletv@luc.edu.

COMPUTER LABS: Computer labs are available in Mertz Hall. These labs offer e-mail, Internet access and laser-printing capabilities. As technology advances, Loyola strives to continue to provide up-to-date equipment for students in all living spaces. If you experience any problems with the computers in the labs, please contact the University Call Center at x44444.

COUNSELING AND MEDIATION: Residence Life staff members are trained and experienced in helping roommates resolve conflicts and can offer advice, support, and formal or informal assistance. Additionally, staff members in the Wellness Center are trained in mediation and can offer assistance, support and counseling. University Ministry staff members also are available to provide support and assistance.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE: Resident assistants are on duty every weekday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 a.m. On weekends, staff members are on duty 24 hours per day. Contact information is posted in each building. On-duty staff members may also be contacted by calling Campus Safety. Professional staff members in Residence Life are on duty 24 hours per day, 7 days a week to respond to emergency situations involving students. Staff members on duty may be contacted through the resident assistant on duty or by contacting Campus Safety.

HALAS SPORTS CENTER: Membership at Halas Sports Center is included in all full-time undergraduate student fees. Be sure to take advantage of all that Halas has to offer. Whether you are looking to get in shape, stay in shape, meet new people or just keep busy, Halas has something for everyone.

HEALTH AND SAFETY ROOM INSPECTIONS: Around midterms each semester, the Residence Life staff in each building will inspect each room to identify and address any health, safety, sanitationand maintenance issues that may be present. LAUNDRY: Washers and dryers are located in each of the residence halls except Xavier Hall. Residents of Xavier Hall are permitted to use the laundry facilities in Seattle Hall. Important: Please do not use TMA Talk for problems with laundry cards or machines. If you have lost money on your laundry debit card or if a washer or dryer is not functioning properly, please contact the laundry service provider directly. MAIL SERVICE: A centralized Loyola mailroom is located on the first floor of the Granada Center, 6431 North Sheridan Road. The mailroom provides letter and package service for all resident Loyola students. Resident students will now be able to use one mailing address for all incoming mail and packages. MAINTENANCE REQUESTS: Loyola University Chicago uses an online system called TMA Talk to report and monitor maintenance concerns. For more information, click here. Students with emergency maintenance requests should contact Campus Safety and/or their hall staff members to report the problem in addition to reporting it through TMA Talk. Examples of emergency maintenance include loss of electrical power in the room, strong smell of gas, no hot water, water leak, no heat and elevator entrapment.

PARKING: Parking is available for resident students on a limited basis. Permits are issued through a lottery system and a fee is charged for the academic year. For more information about parking, see the Parking Website.

PROGRAMMING: Staff within the Department of Residence Life regularly offer programs to members of the Loyola community. These could be social, academic or spiritual in nature.

RESNET ACCESS TO THE INTERNET: Internet access is available in all student rooms. All rooms have an ethernet connection to the university's network and there is one connection provided per student in each room. All students are provided with a university e-mail address. Through ResNet, students are able to obtain assistance in connecting personal computers to the university's network. Students are encouraged to bring their own personal computers. ROOMMATE AGREEMENTS: Near the beginning of each year, at an agreed upon time during the year, or whenever a new roommate moves into the room, all residents of each room will complete a roommate agreement with the assistance of their resident assistant. Roommate agreements can help roommates identify potential problems before they arise. For more information about the roommate agreements, click here.

TELEPHONES: The Residence Halls do not automatically have telephone connectivity. However, if you would like to have a single line installed at no cost, please contact the ITS Support Center at 773-508-7190. You will need to provide your own telephone and purchase a calling card in order to use the service. VACUUM CLEANERS: Vacuum cleaners are available in each area office. You may check one out during office hours. You will need to leave your student ID in the office at that time.
