Volunteer Information

Volunteers are welcome and needed during each season. Whether it's raising a hoophouse, planting grain, restoring wetlands, harvesting squash, or canning pickles, there are many opportunities for volunteering at the Retreat & Ecology Campus.

Loyola Student Farm

Volunteer opportunities on the Loyola Student Farm are offered to community members and Loyola faculty, staff, students, and alumni periodically throughout each season on a need-based schedule: Spring (planting), Summer (harvesting and processing), Fall (harvesting and bed amendments) and Winter (planning and hoophouse gardening).

Wetland Restoration Projects

Restoration work days are designated for the second Saturday of each month. Upcoming restoration projects for this winter include: removing brush and trees from the oak and hickory woodlands, improving drainage for the northern and southern parts of the wetland, and managing native plant life.
