EXTRA EXPENSES

Consider what you already spend on groceries, dining out, entertainment and social activities in Chicago. Most of your expenses will be the same in Rome, however, here are some additional expenses to consider:

  • Round-trip flight to Rome (about $1,500 in August or $1,300 in January)
  • Extra travel (Most students estimate between $2,000 and $5,000 depending on their budget)

Be budget-smart and use the difference to help cover a portion of your flight or other travel expenses.

Students may opt to participate in only one or the other, or may choose to enroll in both JFRC summer sessions, thus extending their study over a ten-week period.

The interval between the summer sessions - the week of June 23-July 1 - will afford students the opportunity for one of two optional school-sponsored study trips, either at the end of a student's session abroad (for those doing only Session I), between the sessions (for students enrolling for both Sessions I and II), or before the start of the JFRC late summer session (for those choosing only Session II).

These inter-session academic excursions will be course-based: CLST 306 Art of Ancient Greece will be taught on-site in Greece, and HIST 300 Sites of WW II in Italy will take students around battlegrounds and cemeteries of the Second World War..  In addition to the tuition for the course (3 s.h.), there will be costs for transportation, food, and lodging. These costs are yet to be determined.
