FOOD AND DRINK

SUPPLIES

Forgot your towels? Need shampoo? What about a new outfit or a gift for someone's birthday?  UPIM, the local convenience store, has all of this. If you need to purchase a cell phone, there are stores near the UPIM that allow you to do this. There are also electronic stores if you need to buy an alarm clock or the like for your dorm. The JFRC supplies sheets, blankets, and a pillow.

PHARMACY

If you need to see a physician, the JFRC offers on-campus consultation with an English-speaking Italian physician during two regularly scheduled hours each week during the fall and spring semesters. The physician may examine students, write prescriptions, or recommend follow-up attention at private or state facilities in the area. The infirmary does not provide medication, however. That can be obtained easily at a local pharmacy. Students with chronic medical problems for which they routinely take an antibiotic should know the name of the antibiotic when they arrive in Rome. The physician can generally call in the prescription as long as the student knows the name of the antibiotic. Students who take regular prescriptions should talk with their doctor before traveling to Rome and, if possible, pack enough medication to last the whole time while abroad.

NEIGHBORHODD

The neighborhood of Monte Mario is filled with lush trees and greenery. Just by stepping out of the JFRC doors, students will see local Italians going about their days. And the excitement of downtown Rome is just a bus ride away. After exploring and sightseeing in the hubub, students will return to this wonderful little oasis above the city on Via Massimi.
