Faculty & Staff
Faculty
Expert faculty members with the highest academic degrees teach JFRC courses. Professors are either visiting for a year from the home campus of Loyola University Chicago or are scholars and professionals residing in Rome.
The average class size is 18-22 to allow for intimate discussion and individualized student-professor interaction.
The JFRC also offers various on-site courses held at historical and archaeological locations in and near Rome. Except for the Italian courses, all classes are taught in English.
Visiting scholars provide supplemental evening lectures several times each semester. In addition, faculty members conduct weekend tours for students to places of interest in Italy.
A sample of some of the brilliant minds who teach at the JFRC:
- Sergio Balanzino, who describes his firsthand experiences working at the highest levels of the North American Treaty Organization
- Claudio Lodici, who reveals his inside knowledge about the workings of the Italian parliament
- Flaminio di Biagi, who shares the behind-the-scenes story about his best-selling book on the cinematic history of Rome
- Fr. Philipp Renczes, S.J., who brings the intellectual brilliance of the Pontifical Gregorian University, founded by St. Ignatius Loyola, to his courses on Christianity, Judaism, and the theology of Pope Benedict XVI
