Summer Session II students visit Le Terme di Caracalla for the ballet

Swan Lake at the Baths of Caracalla

Students pose outside the baths before the performance

Built by Emperor Caracalla beginning 212 AD as a means to improve public opinion of him, the Terme di Caracalla are remarkably massive and once luxurious public baths near the Circo Massimo in Rome.  If they didn’t find the ruins of the baths impressive enough, JFRC summer session II students took advantage of the opportunity to be blown away by a performance of Swan Lake by the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma with the Terme di Caracalla as a back-drop.  The performance of the world-class orchestra and dancers captivated the students and gave them a cultural experience unlike any other.
