Volunteer Opportunities, Service Learning, and Internships Abroad
Internships
JFRC Internships abroad are transformative experiences for students personally, professionally and academically. By turning the city of Rome into their classroom, eligible full-year students gain practical, real world work experiences through an academic course offering. This experience is especially valuable for students wishing to one day make their living abroad. View more information.
Service learning
Social justice is a core tenet within the Jesuit philosophy of faith and service, with a particular call to defend the weak, the oppressed, and the marginalized. The John Felice Rome Center takes up that charge through service opportunities that bring students into direct contact with the less fortunate members of Italian society.
You will have the option to reach these individuals by serving at a number of charitable organizations. Service work is focused in part on helping the homeless. Other outlets cater to refugees from war-torn regions, such as Iraq, Sudan, and Afghanistan. View more information.
Volunteer opportunities
Students can volunteer in various ways during their time abroad. The JFRC works with the Community of Sant’Egidio to provide weekly opportunities for students to give back while immersing themselves in Italian culture. Students can volunteer at the community’s soup kitchen, clothing center, or by distributing meals by car.
