Mass of the Holy Spirit

September 7, 2011

Mass of the Holy Spirit is an annual community tradition that marks the beginning of the academic semester and welcomes all members of the John Felice Rome Center to participate regardless of their religious affiliation.  Mass is held in the historic Baroque-style Chiesa di Sant’ Ignazio, a church dedicated to Saint Ignatius of Loyola, located in downtown Rome.

Father Al Abuszewski, OSST presided over Mass, with the aide of Father Ted Bohr, S.J., Fr. Philipp. Renczes, S.J., and Fr. John Chandler, S.J. of the Rome Center and Fr. Stefano, future assistant to Fr. Garanzini, president of Loyola University of Chicago.  Our own Prof. Evers accompanied Prof.ssa Delia Surratt, Mike Beazley, and several student vocalists on the organ during mass.

Mass was followed by a celebration dinner, hosted by Osteria dell’ Anima and Perione, located near Piazza Navona.  Both offered our students, staff, and faculty traditional and contemporary Italian dishes.  The dinner following mass was open to all members of the John Felice Rome Center, including those that had not attended mass.
