Clean Up Balduina Service Day

On October 26th, a group of 20 JFRC students participated in what has become a yearly tradition of service within the Balduina neighborhood. This year’s Clean Up Balduina service project was a joint effort between our JFRC community and local community service group, Noi Per Roma.  Community activists worked side by side with our students to restore the area surrounding San Pio X parish located in Piazza Balduina. Clearing stairs of garbage, weeding and cleaning out debris from gardens, and distributing portable ashtrays and doggie bags were some of the main actions the group undertook. After these tasks were completed, community members extended their gratitude to students with a pizza lunch and brief celebration of the good works completed. By the conclusion of the project, aesthetics were immediately improved while reinforcing a continuing relationship between community activists and our university. Both Noi Per Roma and the JFRC are excited for future collaborative programs and hope to keep the spirit of service alive in the semesters and years to come.
