Hunger Run 2013

The group after completing the 5K or 10K respectively

Globally each day, hundreds of individuals struggle with hunger. Since 2006, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Food Program (WFP) alongside other contributing partners host the Hunger Run in Rome to raise awareness and fundraise to end world hunger. Since 2010, JFRC students, staff and faculty have actively participated in competing and volunteering in the 5k / 10k Hunger Run. This fall semester JFRC had 70 members participate in the event and raised €700 for the fight against hunger. Partnering with Team USA, the JFRC community was able to help the US UN Tri-Mission reach its goal and fund construction of an agricultural school in Sudan. After the Hunger Run, a very appreciative US Ambassador David Lane invited the JFRC community to his home for a traditional American BBQ. All those who attended were given a taste of home in Rome on the Via Appia.
