Dr. Stefania Galdiero received her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Naples Federico II in 1998. From 1996 to 1997 she has carried out research activities at the Columbia University of New York. From 1999 she has been Researcher of the Science Faculty of the University of Naples "Federico II" and Professor of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Stechiometry and Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory for undergraduates students. She is member of Instituto di Biostrutture e Bioimmagini (IBB) of the National Research Council of Italy and of Centro di Competenza in Diagnostica e Farmaceutica Molecolari (CRdC DFM). The main interests of her research activities are focused on identifying and defining at a molecular level new diagnostic and therapeutic targets; her area of research broadly address peptide chemistry with a special focus on 1)biological activity of structural components of Gram-negative bacteria surface; 2)analysis of enveloped viruses penetration mechanism; 3)design of novel molecules that may be used as antimicrobials; 3)design of vaccines;4)intracellular delivery. She has also extensively published on peer-reviewed journals (more than 60 publications and more than 80 abstracts for national and international meetings). She is currently member of the American Chemical Society and of Società Chimica Italiana. She has given lectures and presented papers in several worldwide institutions, such as universities in the U.S., Italy, France, Spain.
