The final grade (student's work and performance) will be evaluated as follows:
75% written work: 50% 4 Exams; 25% Final Exam
25% class: 1/3 oral and response in class: pronunciation; ability to read, understand and speak Italian; oral proficiency and presentations such as "show and tell." mysterious object, a European city, life in Rome, a Rome adventure
1/3 homework: control and accuracy when using grammar; written home assignments; compositions in Italian; a weekly journal collected weekly and at the end of the semester
1/3 participation: contribution, participation and class attendance (attendance is considered essential to accomplish continuous progress in learning); absences will inevitably show in students' performance, both written and oral; any unexcused absence will lower the final grade.

NOTES:Have in mind that the Loyola grading system range is 100-70; in this class a grade of 69 is therefore an "F," and there are NO minus grades. There will be NO make-up tests or quizzes. "Travel" will NEVER be accepted as a reason to cut classes or miss examinations. Failure to take a test or quiz (unless justified by real illness) will bring an "F" in it. Cheating is forbidden; when discovered, it will result in an "F." Steady progress during the course will be taken into account in the evaluation of the final grade, as will the opposite situation.
