The Student Organization Awards (SOAs), a part of the Weekend of Excellence, recognize LUC's Registered and Sponsored Student Organizations for the many successful programs and achievements of the past year.

1.    Outstanding Overall Program of the Year: This award is designed to recognize an exceptional program hosted by a student organization that best exemplifies the mission, purpose, and values of the student organization and has had a significant impact on the campus community. 2.    Outstanding Educational Program: This award will be given to recognize an educationally focused program hosted by a student organization that encourages students to engage in learning outside of the classroom here at Loyola.  The recognized program will have an academic, cultural or leadership emphasis while providing an educational experience for attendees. 3.    Outstanding Community Service Program: This award will be given to recognize a community service focused program hosted by a student organization at Loyola that contributed to the broader mission of Loyola University Chicago and encouraged students to participate in service activities towards active citizenship. 4.    Outstanding Diversity Awareness Program: The program that receives this award will be a diversity awareness program hosted by a student organization that demonstrates a focus on allowing participants to engage in diversity education. The recognized program will have an emphasis on increasing understanding, acceptance, and tolerance among the Loyola community. To submit a nomination for this award, please click here!
5.    Outstanding Special Interest Performance: This award will be given to recognize a performance based program hosted by a student organization at Loyola that contributed to the overall student experience, with a focus on building community through positive interaction with their peers within the community. 6.    Program Collaboration of the Year: This award is designed to recognize a program that best exemplified the elements of collaboration, teamwork, and quality programming hosted by a student organization at Loyola. The program can include collaboration between two or more student organizations, university departments, or the Chicago land community. To submit a nomination for this award, please click here!

1.    Outstanding Advisor: This award will be given to a current Loyola employee who has acted as an advisor for a student organization for at least three years; has strong advising skills while establishing a positive impact on a student organization and the university community; and has demonstrated a dedicated interest in the development of student organization leaders. 2.    Outstanding New Advisor: This award will be given to a current Loyola employee who has acted as an advisor for a student organization and is in his/her first or second year of advising student groups here at Loyola. The advisor recognized will be someone who has provided excellent support for the organization in varied situations and provides the organization with fresh ideas when possible. 3.    Outstanding Officer of the Year: This award is intended to recognize a student organization executive board member who exemplifies service, commitment, and strong leadership qualities while supporting a student organization here at Loyola. The student recognized will have made significant contributions to their student organization; by way of enriching the strengths of their student members through integrity and enthusiasm while taking initiative towards carrying their organization to new heights. 4.    Unsung Hero: This award will be given to recognize a student organization member who often places his/her heart and soul into everything but often will go un-noticed for their valiant efforts. This student may be classified as often taking a “behind the scenes” approach but always goes above and beyond the standard to help his/her student organization. 5.    New Member of the Year: This award is designed to recognize a student who has become a registered member of a student organization within the past year and has established him/herself as an invaluable student organization member. This student will have joined their organization with intense passion and infectious enthusiasm while supporting their organization to excel and create a positive impact on Loyola’s campus community. 6.    Greek 360 Award: This award is intended to recognize a member of our Sorority & Fraternity Life community who also is an outstanding member of alternative student organizations here at Loyola. This student will have a special ability to remain actively involved in their social Sorority/Fraternity while actively engaging with their peers within their alternative student organization membership endeavors. 1.    Outstanding New Organization (registered after July 31st, 2014): This award will be given to a student organization that is new to the campus during the current academic year. This organization will have demonstrated continued growth in organizational development and a strong potential to further advance the quality of the student experience here at Loyola. 2.    Outstanding Registered Student Organization: This award will recognize a Registered Student Organization (RSO) that has demonstrated consistent activity, creativity, and initiative; has made meaningful contributions to the campus community; and has had a significant impact on the quality of the student experience here at Loyola throughout the academic year. 3.    Outstanding Sponsored Student Organization: This award will recognize a Sponsored Student Organization (SSO) that has demonstrated consistent activity, creativity, and initiative; has made meaningful contributions to the campus community; and has had a significant impact on the quality of the student experience here at Loyola throughout the academic year. 4.    Outstanding Executive Board of the Year: This award is designed to recognize a team of student organization executive leaders who embody the principles of teamwork, collaboration, effectiveness, and support for their student organization. The executive board recognized will have made outstanding contributions to the overall organizational management of their organization while adhering to student organization expectations and advancing the cause of their mission within Loyola’s campus community. 5.    Greatest Strides: This award will recognize a student organization who has demonstrated an evident amount of improvement in varied student organization management affairs. The student organization recognized will have made significant contributions to the Loyola campus community while experiencing an intentional overhaul of focused support and development towards reaching new heights as a student organization.
