Minor in Information Systems

Non-SBA students who wish to expand their skills in information systems may pursue a minor in this field. The minor in information systems management provides excellent foundational knowledge of applications, data and systems used in business and nonprofit organizations.

The minor in information systems is designed to increase job opportunities and enhance your career path, regardless of your primary major. When it is combined with a liberal arts major, students gain a better understanding of the role of information systems in business and technology, particularly data management and project management systems.

The information systems minor requires 18 credit hours in the following courses:

  • ISOM 247. Computer Concepts and Applications
  • Two courses from the following:
    • ACCT 201. Introductory Accounting I
    • ECON 201. Principles of Economics I (Micro) or
      ECON 202. Principles of Economics II (Macro)
    • MARK 201. Principles of Marketing
    • MGMT 301. Managing People and Organizations
  • Three 300-level information systems courses

SBA students who wish to pursue a minor in information systems will take three 300-level information systems courses.

A maximum of one transfer course may be applied to the minor at the discretion of the assistant dean of SBA. A 2.0 average GPA is required for all courses.
