Aims, Actions, Adaptations
The Chicago Math & Science Initiative (CMSI) support for teachers taking university math and science courses was based on the belief that:
- CPS resources and policies should be coherent and aligned with national and state policies on teacher credentials and with each other.
- The university-based programs (and the credentialing system that they support) should enhance teachers’ content knowledge relevant for their math and science instruction.
- Given success in the university programs, teachers should be able to apply what they learn to improve their instruction and foster increased student achievement in math and science.
