Admission and Application Requirements

Admission requirements

For adult and transfer Students, including community college transfers, second‑bachelor's candidates, and those without a college degree:   

Education

  • For those applicants age 23 and over, a high school diploma or successful completion of the GED is required.
  • For those applicants under 23 years of age, the following is required: 1). a high school diploma or successful completion of the GED,             2).  successful completion of a minimum of 24 hours of course work from an accredited institution of higher education.

Grade Point Average

  • A minimum GPA of 2.0 (out of a possible 4.0), earned at each post-secondary institution previously attended.

Admission requirements for current Loyola Undergraduates:

  • Eligible students are to be in good standing and have completed the necessary prerequisite courses.
  • Interested undergraduate students should contact the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at (312) 915-8956 at their earliest opportunity to make sure their curricular paths are consistent with the program's expectations. 

Application Requirements

  • A $25 non-refundable application fee (fee waived for online application).
  • A completed application form.
  • Official academic records from high school or the GED report.
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended
  • A statement of purpose. This statement should describe your reasons for seeking a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago, as well as how this degree program will help you meet your educational, personal, and career goals.  The minimum personal statement length is 350 to 500 words.

Additional Application Requirements 

The following documents are required, in addition to those listed above, for those who may fall into these categories:

  • A TOEFL, IELTS, or TELA score report is required for international applicants whose native language is not English. If you are in the Chicago area, you may take TELA at Loyola. Contact the English as a Second Language Program at (773) 508-3880 or via e-mail at esl@luc.edu to arrange to take the TELA.
  • International applicants, or U.S. residents who completed school abroad, are required to submit non-U.S. transcripts to Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. (ECE) for evaluation of credentials. Please request a course-by-course evaluation report.

Students may apply to begin in any one of our five 8-week academic sessions.  For session start dates, and recommended submission dates for application materials, please visit SCPS Admission Deadlines  Please allow a minimum of two weeks before the start of an 8-week session to ensure timely processing of the application.
