For all applicants, the following admission requirements must be met:

  • Education: bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Degrees from non-US institutions must be evaluated by a credentialing service (see below).
  • Grade point average: a minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Exceptions may be made in certain circumstances; applicants should address this issue in the personal statement.
To apply for admission to the Institute for Paralegal Studies, the following is required:
  • A completed admission application
  • A $25 non-refundable application fee (fee waived for online application or previous Loyola applicants)
  • Official transcripts from each college or university attended (waived for previous Loyola students)
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • A personal statement
  • An interview is required before an admission decision is made. Please call (312)915-6820 to schedule an interview with the Director.

For international applicants, the following documents are required in addition to those listed above:

  • Evaluations of international transcripts by an outside credentialing service. Applicants who have attended post-secondary schools abroad are required to submit their transcripts as well as a course-by-course transcript evaluation. Go to www.ece.org for information about this service.
  • TOEFL scores. Non-native English speakers must demonstrate proficiency in the English language with a minimum TOEFL score of 650 PBT/280 CBT/114iBT.

Failure to submit accurate and complete information in an application is cause for immediate dismissal from the Institute for Paralegal Studies.

There are separate admission requirements for undergraduate applicants seeking a B.A. in Management with Paralegal Certificate. Those can be found under the "B.A. in Management Degree" option on the Admission page.
