May 10th 1 p.m. Mundelien Center.  See luc.edu/commencement for full details.

This site is designed to answer frequently asked questions surrounding graduation and the Commencement ceremony for the School of Continuing and Professional Studies.  For complete information on the May 2008 Commencement, please visit www.luc.edu/commencement.

Graduation and Commencement are often used interchangeably, yet are two different events.  'Graduation' is what occurs when a student has completed all degree requirements; 'Commencement' is the graduation ceremony. Both events occur around the same time, but require two separate procedures.

If you plan to finish your degree requirements in May 2008 or August 2008, please see the below details.  If you plan to finish your degree requirements in Fall 2008, please check this site after May 2008.

I.  Apply for Graduation

Apply for Graduation in LOCUS.  Loyola has developed a streamlined, two-step method for all students to apply for graduation via LOCUS:

  • Review the 'Graduation Application Checklist' under 'Loyola Web Links'
  • Click on 'Apply for Graduation' under the 'Student Self-Service' menu.  Once complete, students are to print and submit the form to SCPS in Lewis Towers, 401.

**Please note:  For the 2007-2008 academic year, you may have already submitted an Application for Graduation received from SCPS, either from the SCPS office or sent to you via e-mail.  If you submitted this form, it is still acceptable.

Receive a Graduation Audit.  Once SCPS receives an application for graduation, a graduation audit is sent to the student.  This audit outlines the remaining courses needed for degree completion, along with the anticipated sessions for completion.  If you did not receive a graduation audit, and you have submitted an application for graduation, please contact Shena Dunlap at sdunlap@luc.edu.

II.  RSVP for the Commencement ceremony

RSVP for the May 2008 Commencement Ceremony (New!):  All students with a completed application for graduation will receive an invitation to attend the School of Continuing and Professional Studies Commencement.  This invitation will be sent to student's Loyola e-mail account.

This invitation is how you indicate your intent to attend the ceremony and confirm your name as it will appear on your diploma; as well as how you will receive details about the ceremony and academic apparel purchases.  This e-mail campaign began on March 3rd 2008.  If you do not receive this e-mail invitation by March 31st, please contact SCPS at scps@luc.edu.  Please be sure to RSVP by April 10th.
