Share the DREAM Ally Training Opportunities

Monday, 3/9 from 9am-12pm in Damen 214 and Friday, 4/10 from 9am–12pm in Cuneo 218. On June 15, 2012, the Obama administration announced DREAM act-eligible individuals could apply for Deferred Action. SDMA created a training to bring awareness, build safe spaces, and provide allies with resources to support Undocumented students. There are two trainings this semester - one for students and one for staff/faculty. Space is limited. *Please RSVP by March 6th to Sadika Sulaiman Hara at ssulaimanhara@luc.edu and specify which training you are interested in attending.  

SDMA Leader Recruitment

Social Justice Internship Applications

Social Justice Interns receive a $5,000 educational grant to complete a year-long internship (275-300 hours) at 1 of 3 community partner organizations. All returning undergraduate students with a 3.0 GPA or higher are encouraged to apply by Friday, March 13 through the Center for Experiential Learning.  

Social Justice Dinner Dialogue: The Digital Divide

Thursday 3/12, 5:00-7:00pm, Regis MPR. As smart phones, social media, and wireless internet access connect us to the digital world, they provide opportunities for greater connection to the rest of humanity and creative ways to advocate for justice. Is social media the new face of advocacy, or is technocentrism destroying our capacity to see human dignity?  

The Racial Divide Symposium

Wednesday, 11 March 2015, 3:30PM - 5:00PM,4th Floor, Information Commons. In the wake of the events surrounding the deaths of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, Tamir Rice in Cleveland, Ohio, Eric Garner in Staten Island, New York, among others, Bishop Braxton offers his own reflection on the state of the racial divide in the United States today.  

Sophomore Supper: Pre-Health Advising

Thursday, March 26th at 5:30pm. Are you interested in working in the healthcare industry? Maybe you want to be a doctor, a nurse, or something else entirely? Visit this Sophomore Supper to further explore various options. Pre-Health advisors and healthcare providers will be on site to answer any questions you might have, or to casually talk with you about your passions and plans. The Second Year Experience staff welcomes sophomores, juniors, and seniors to this event. Location: Damen Multipurpose Room  

Out to Lunch

The Out-to-Lunch program is designed to provide opportunities for meaningful conversations between faculty/academic advisors and undergraduate students.
