Present: Father Garanzini, Tony Barbato, Bill Cannon, Diane Geraghty, Geri Hudson, Kelly Carter, Jon Heintzelman, Marge Beane
There was a positive review of Strategic Plan Report at March
Board of Trustee Meeting. As work continues on the final format of the
plan, it was requested that the strategies be included with the
statement of the goals.
Reviewing each of the goals of the strategic plan, it was noted
that the following plans are now being worked on:
Goal 1: Core Renewal, Student Assessment, Magis, North Central, Planning
processes in many of the schools, i.e., Law and Business
Goal 2: Five year enrollment plan, SPS program development, WTC
Academic Initiative
Goal 3: LInC Plan for Student Advising, Academic Program Review,
Center
for Faculty Development Plan
Goal 4: Ten Year Residence Life Plan
Goal 5: Research Plan
Goal 6: LSC Master Plan, WTC Master Plan
Goal 7:
Goal 8:
Goal 9: Sullivan Student Services Plan, Redesign of Financial
Services,
Peoplesoft and the Redesign of Registration & Records, HR Efforts in
Staff Orientation, Redesign of Post Awards (Research)
Goal 10: Capital Campaign, Loyola Promise, Alumni Engagement Plan
Responsibility for the monitoring of each of the above plans:
Each plan has a chair or two. This person/s will be responsible to
monitor progress on the plan and periodically report on the progress to
the Leadership Group and the Strategic Planning UPC.
Capital Campaign: After a discussion of the pros and cons of
the scope of a capital campaign, it was suggested that Jon Heintzelman
and Tony Barbato consider launching simultaneous campaigns; one for the
needs of LUC that would include SSOM and one for the needs of LUMC.
They will begin to talk about the feasibility of this action and
consider staffing needs, case statements etc.
Father share broad ideas behind an enhanced research model that
will soon be shared with the university. A VP for Research will be
hired and report to the president. His/her office will be at LUMC where
the bulk of research is happening. The VP would be supported by an
Assoc Provost for Research at LUC and an Asst. Dean for Research at
SSOM. Post award operations would be combined and will report to
financial services. The Graduate School of Nursing will report to the
VP for Health Sciences. A graduate dean will be hired to guide and
focus our graduate programs.
It was agreed that a communication plan is needed in order to
share the tenets of the strategic plan. Phil Hale will be asked to
help coordinate that effort.
A May and July Leadership Meeting will be held to engage
Loyolans in the continued work of the plan. The Strategic Planning UPC
will meet in late April/early May to finalize the agenda for the May
meeting. Marge will gather ideas from the group and have an agenda
ready for review at the next meeting.
