Online Student Produced Magazines

Loyola's School of Communication encourages students to be involved with their surrounding community and issues concerning social justice. John Slania's Advanced Reporting class evokes student-produced online magazines that strive to promote issues of social justice in Chicago. The class offers practical training for students interested in reporting for newspapers, TV and radio. Students research and develop story ideas, conduct interviews, take photos and design the Web site.

Current Project: Mosaic: Focus on Homelessness

Exploring Chicago's social issues piece by piece.

"[In Mosaic] Each student's story represents one piece of the mosaic we intended to craft through words, pictures and our own voices. It is our hope that we can bring awareness to the social justice issues as well as recognize the organizations and individuals who dedicate their lives to such causes today."
