Dr. Gumz joined the faculty in 1993 and is the former chairperson of the BSW program. His practice background spans twenty years in direct service, supervision and administration in child and family welfare, mental health and developmental disabilities. Research interests include spirituality and social work, social work and criminal justice, and social service delivery systems. He has written journal articles dealing with his research in these areas and is the author of the book, Professionals and their Work in the Family Court, an organizational study of the family court of Milwaukee County. He has served on several boards including present service on the Counseling Center of Lakeview.
