Family and School Partnerships Program
Certificate in Advanced Practice in Schools (CAPS)
This two year certificate program is the most intentsive component of Loyola's Family and School Partnerships training. It isi specifically designed for social workers, counselors, psychologists, and administrators in K-12 schools who want to enhance their skills and become leaders in their districts and the profession. The need for such training is increasingly clear, especially as the State of Illinois moves towards a more rigourous qualifications for school-based professionals. Loyola's CAPS program now offers fifteen graduate credits, the requisite number for lane changes and salary increases in most districts (pending approval).

Partcipants can expect:

to study stength-based, capacity building assessment and intervention strategies.

to learn models and techniques to help foster collaboration with parents, faculty, and other adults both inside and outside of the school building.

to evaluate their practice by learning evidence-based reserach skills.

to become more effective at implementing Response to Intervention (RTI).

to have ongoing consultation and collaboration with a network of expert school-based mental health professionals.

to earn hours towards licensure for social workers and counselors.
