School of Social Work

Meet the MSW Program Director
Michael Kelly Ph.D.

MSW Director

I joined the Loyola faculty in Fall 2006 and was named MSW Program Director effective July 2012.    Prior to earning my doctorate at UIC, I was a school social worker, family therapist and youth minister for 14 years in the Chicago area.  I have brought my work on school social work and EBP to researchers and practitioners in Rhode Island, Wyoming, Chile, and Japan.

Dr. Kelly was recently quoted in Catalyst in Depth in their article entitled "Tragedy's Aftermath".  Catalyst in Depth is an independent magazine that covers Chicago Public Schools.

In my free time for fun I love to run marathons, listen to music, and chase our three little boys (my daily marathon!).   I look forward to working with all of you in the MSW program—stop by and say hello sometime!
