Program Goals
The following goals are offered with the understanding that complex social and economic justice issues require advocacy, social action, and/or clinical work with diverse populations and communities.
- The preparation of professionals for scholarship and research in the areas that include but are not limited to, conceptual development, theory building, evaluation of practice, and program evaluation;
- The preparation of professionals for an advanced understanding of multiple research methodologies;
- The preparation of professionals for skills in academic teaching in the content areas of theory, practice, research, and policy;
- The preparation of professionals to understand the evolution and integration of clinical theory as it applies to clinical practice and clinical research;
- The preparation of professionals to understand the evolution and development of models of service delivery within organizations;
- The preparation of professionals to have an advanced understanding of the history of the social work profession and its relevance for policy, practice, and research;
- The preparation of professionals to understand and assume leadership roles with diverse populations and communities.
