School of Social Work

Study Abroad

International social work practice, theory, and policy greatly influence the profession domestically and abroad. The School of Social Work offers students several options to study abroad, providing them with the opportunity to learn about another country’s approaches and policies to service, conduct a comparative analysis on the different models of social work, and develop a sense of what it means to be a global citizen with insight into the multi-dimensional construct of internationalization.

Currently, the only study abroad program is in Mexico and is pending COVID travel restrictions. Learn more about past experiences and upcoming opportunities via the following link.

MSW students - Interested in doing an international internship? We offer the opportunity to complete a social work field placement in Mexico over the summer, but students may also complete an international internship elsewhere. Students interested in doing so are encouraged to research their own field placement and fill out the Field Placement Abroad Proposal for review.
