Committees
Staff Council (SC) is composed of four standing committees that include both SC members and other lakeside staff. SC encourages all staff to join a committee of interest by contacting the committee chair. SC committees welcome any suggestions or concerns, and truly appreciate participation from staff outside of SC. The committees are:
- Staff Development
- Communications
- Loyola Employee Emergency Fund (LEEF)
- Staff Recognition & Excellence Awards
- Social Events & Community Building
Staff Development
Chairs: Melissa Bagdon and Lauren Schwer
The staff development committee promotes the professional development of lakeside staff. This committee serves as a conduit of information between staff and human resources. The staff development committee highlights issues of concern among staff regarding their professional development and also notifies staff of opportunities available for professional development.
The Staff Development committee is currently working on the initial development of a Staff Mentor Program, Ambassador for a Day, and Center for Staff Professional Development. The committee is seeking active participants to contribute to the planning of each program. In addition, the committee invite staff to participate in one of a series of focus groups to discuss ways to ehance the personal and professional development of Loyola staff. Each focus group will run no more than one-hour.
If you have an interest to become a member of the Staff Development committee or participate in a focus group, please email Melissa Bagdon at mbagdon@luc.edu or Lauren Schwer at lschwer@luc.edu.
A Staff Mentor Program provides developmental opportunities for both mentors and mentees. Goal is to promote professional and personal development among staff by connecting them with individuals who can advise, coach, and guide them.
Ambassador for a Day provides staff with an opportunity to shadow a staff member and learn about the function of a different department within Loyola. This program allows staff to improve their holistic view of Loyola as an organization and connect with fellow staff.
A Center for Staff Professional Development provides a centralized place for staff to use as a resource for staff development. In addition to the Staff Mentor Program and Ambassador for a day, the Center acts as a place for staff to learn about workshops, speakers, and scholarships that can be used to enhance an individual’s personal and professional development.
