Advising Hours
1) First Step: Attend a Study Abroad 101 Workshop
Study Abroad 101 workshops are offered twice a week throughout the academic year. The sessions are mandatory for all prospective study abroad students, except for those who are interested in attending the Rome Center or Loyola-faculty-led summer programs. Attendance at only one workshop session is required. The Office for International Programs encourages students to attend a workshop as soon as they decide to explore study abroad—the earlier the better!
The workshops help students gain an understanding about study abroad, including the factors involved in selecting a program, study abroad policies and requirements. The Study Abroad Manual is covered in depth at the 101 workshops.
Study Abroad 101 Schedule - Fall 2009
-
Mondays: 4-5 p.m. (Sullivan Center, Room 123)
-
Tuesdays: 4-5 p.m. (Sullivan Center, Room 123)
Students (except for those considering Rome and Loyola faculty led programs) must attend a 101 session before scheduling an advising appointment or coming in for walk-in advising hours.
101s are offered during university holidays.
2) Second Step: Schedule an Appointment with an Advisor
Students can contact the Office for International Programs to set up their first study abroad appointment with a study abroad advisor. The advisor can help you tailor your search for the right program by hearing from you what your particular goals are for the experience. To schedule an appointment, call: 773.508.3899. Students who are primarily interested in the Rome Center do not have to schedule an appointment; they can come in during the Walk-In Advising Hours listed below.
3) Third Step: Come in for Walk-In Advising Hours with Any Additional Questions
After meeting with an advisor for the first appointment, students are encouraged to come in during study abroad walk-in advising hours if they have further questions or concerns. Hours will be held every day of the week from 1pm-3pm in the Office for International Programs (Sullivan Center, room 206).
