The City of Copenhagen - Copenhagen, the capital city of Denmark, is located on the island of Sjaelland (Denmark is made up of 406 island and a mainland called Jutland). It is on a breezy coastline between the North and Baltic Seas and is actually closer to the coast of Sweden than to Jutland. A 16 kilometer long combined bridge and tunnel now links Copenhagen and Malmo (Sweden). Copenhagen is a city of canals, harbor fronts, and parks with beautiful architecture, museums, theaters, Tivoli Gardens (the grand dame of amusement parks), castles, and a lively nightlife. It is the largest city in Scandinavia, Copenhagen is a modern, international city that has managed to remain cozy and compact, Much of the city center is designated as a large pedestrian zone called Stroget, making it a wonderful city for walking. Travel is easy from Copenhagen. In a weekend you can take a cruise to Oslo for a variation on the Scandinavian theme or a train trip to Berlin to discover an entirely new culture.
