Housing & Dining
Living in Chicago
Summer Scholars will be housed in Messina Hall on Loyola's Lake Shore Campus. The building is comprised of suite-style doubles: two traditional double occupancy rooms joined by a common bathroom. These suite-style rooms will be assigned by gender, but the entire floor will have both male and female occupants. Students who wish to live on campus must submit an online housing contract.
All program students will have:
- Exclusive access to Messina Hall day or night;
- An extra place to study on campus; and
- A designated meeting spot for all on or off campus programs or events.
The program employs live-in staff members to supervise students throughout the program. Program Coordinators (PCs); oversee the entire program as well as supervise and direct the activities of the College Coaches (CCs). Members of our staff are experienced college students, employed by Loyola to perform a number of duties including developing the Activity Calendar which includes social and educational programming during the afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
Eating in Chicago
Residential Students: will receive a declining balance meal plan to allow for three meals each day. All meals are served in the Damen Dining on the Lake Shore Campus and lunch and dinner options can be found on the Water Tower Campus.
Additionally, students may purchase food items at several food markets across campus. Please refer to the campus dining website for more information.
Students may also add Rambler Bucks to their campus card which can be used like a prepaid debit card on campus and at surrounding businesses. Using Rambler Bucks eliminates paying tax on items purchased at designated restaurants and Loyola bookstores and serve as an easy way for students to pay to use the laundry facilities, vending machines, and printers.
For a list of locations where Rambler Bucks can be used, please visit the Rambler Bucks website.
