Housing & Dining
Living in Chicago
The Pre-College Summer Scholars students live in a dedicated residence hall on Loyola's Lake Shore Campus. They will be assigned to single gender room, but the entire floor will have both male and female occupants.
All students who wish to live on campus must submit an online housing contract.
Any student participating in the Pre-College Summer Scholars program will have:
- Exclusive access to the hall day or night;
- An extra place to study in one of our lounges while on campus; and
- A designated meeting spot for all on or off campus programs or events.
The program employs live-in staff members to supervise students throughout the program. They are experienced college students, employed by Loyola to perform a number of duties including developing the Activity Calendar which includes social and educational programming during the afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
Academy, STARS and SPELL students will receive a declining balance meal plan to allow for three meals each day. All meals are served in the Damen Dining on the Lake Shore Campus. Additionally, lunch and dinner options can be found on the Water Tower Campus.
Residential Seminar students will receive a block meal plan that accommodate three meals a day for the duration of their stay. Commuting Seminar students will receive a meal allocation to allow them to each lunch only in the cafeteria for the duration of their program.
Students may also add Rambler Bucks to their campus card which can be used like a prepaid debit card on campus and at surrounding businesses. Using Rambler Bucks eliminates paying tax on items purchased at designated restaurants and Loyola bookstores and serve as an easy way for students to pay to use the laundry facilities, vending machines, and printers.
For a list of locations where Rambler Bucks can be used, please visit the Rambler Bucks website.
