Summer Scholars

For Residential Students

Summer Scholar students come to Chicago from all across the country as well as many international locations bringing with them a wealth of cultural and ethnic diversity. Living on campus introduces students to an invaluable opportunity for learning about people's differences and similarities.

All residential students in the Summer Scholars program live and eat together in a single undergraduate residence hall on the Loyola's Lake Shore Campus. Our designated residence (Messina Hall) provides secured entry, staffed front desk, several lounges, a water station, laundry facility, and common kitchen.

Below you will find important information specific to residential students as you move forward toward summer!

Proceed to the Messina Hall to begin your residential check-in process. At this time, students will be provided with important information regarding their stay, be asked to complete any missing documents and be given their room assignments.

Students will need to sign up in advance for check-out with program staff. At the time of your check-out, students will need to go to the front desk to alert an awaiting staff member that you are ready to be check-out of your room.

Readiness for check-out means, all your belongings are removed from the room and the area in which you occupied has cleaned. If these requirements have been met, program staff members will evaluate your room for damages.

Upon final check-out, you will receive a copy of your check-out form, fill out a survey and return your room key before departing. Failure to return your room key will result in a $150 key replacement charge added to your student account.
