ENVS 395 Internship Course

Steps for Undertaking the ENVS 395 Academic Internship Course

  1. ‌‌‌‌‌Download and read the following documents:
     
  2. Contact employers about possible internships. You will find internships on our Internships External Internships web page and on Login to RamblerLink. Please note, you are not limited to these lists and you can work with any employers as long as the internship is related to your field of study.
     
  3. Make an appointment with Dr. Peterson at cpeters@luc.edu or 773-508-2950 to meet in-person. Please complete and bring the following documents to the meeting:
    - Learning Agreement Instructor Page
    - Contact Information Form
    - Formal Written Job Description from the Employer
    - Professional Resume 
     
  4. Once your academic internship is approved by Dr. Peterson, please notify Christine Wolff at cwolff1@luc.edu who will enroll you in the ENVS 395 class.
     
  5. Get to work! Interns are required to work a minimum of 10 hours each week on the internship, answer questions in Sakai bi-weekly and submit a research paper at the end of the semester.
     
  6. At the end of the semester supervisors will be asked to fill out the ENVS 395: Academic Internship Supervisor Evaluation form‌ which will become part of the final grade.
     
  7. If you are interning in the IES Biodiesel Lab please contact Zach Waickman at zwaickm@luc.edu regarding the requirements of that internship course.
