Loyola participates in two national programs that address our energy footprint.
Each year since its inception, Loyola participates in the global program Earth Hour. The campus community unites in the collective work for everyone to be mindful of energy consumption.
- Students gather on the shores of Lake Michigan to observe the dimming of campus lights
- Students hold candle-light gatherings on outdoor campus locations
- Reducing the energy load in the residence halls, students and RAs take the time to gather
Campus Conservation Nationals allows Loyola to compete residence hall vs. residence hall and against other universities on who can conserve the most energy during a four week period each spring. Energy consumption is recorded and the winning hall receives campus-wide recognition.
