Dead Man Walking Theatre Project
Loyola University Chicago was proud to answer the invitation to join the Dead Man Walking School Theater Project. Along with nineteen other schools nation-wide, Loyola presented a workshop production of Tim Robbins' new playscript, Dead Man Walking.
Our university also presented a year-long study project on the issue of capital punishment, involving the following departments: Loyola's Amnesty International, Alumni Events, Beta Rho Honor Society, Communication, Criminal Justice, English, School of Education, School of Law, Library Book Club, Magis Honor Society, Mission and Ministry, Political Science, School of Social Work, Student Life, Theatre, Theology, United Student Government, University Ministry and Women's Studies.

Speaker Mike Farrell
Activist-actor Mike Farrell (best known as Hunnicut on M*A*S*H) speaks to the community on the injustices within the capital punishment statue. His talk is entitled: Thou Shall Not Kill: Abolition of the Death Penalty in the U.S.
Scenes from A Lesson Before Dying
Black World Studies and Black Theatre Workshop presented scenes from Ernest Gaines' A Lesson Before Dying and discussed the relationship between the justice system and the injustices of using the incarcerated as a free labor force and the injustice of capital punishment.
Performances of Dead Man Walking

Film-maker Rachel Lyons
Emmy- award winning Rachel Lyons will be speaking and showing excerpts from her most recent film Race to Execution, on capital punishment in Alabama.
Barred from Life
Recent recipient of the CLEA Award David Popalisky and performers from Santa Clara University presented this original dance performance work that illuminates the human experience of the wrongfully convicted. Based of interviews with Chicago and San Francisco Bay Area exonerees, this powerful performance work combines dance movement, video imagery, and excepts from interviews with exonerees.
