Mission Statement

The mission of the Center for Interdisciplinary Thinking (CIT) is to creatively originate, enhance, support, encourage, and advertise interdisciplinary research and teaching initiatives focused on the strategic goals of Loyola University Chicago, especially as those initiatives enhance the undergraduate experience at Loyola. Interdisciplinary thinking at Loyola is characterized by collaborative work involving two or more disciplines combining, enhancing, and transforming their theoretical and methodological approaches to solve problems that can be treated from multiple disciplinary perspectives. The center, in collaboration with the college’s interdisciplinary programs, seeks to help faculty and students develop, fund, and successfully complete interdisciplinary projects.
